With the release (supposedly) of Mr. West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy slated for November 22nd, we felt it was only right to take a slight trip down the College Dropout lane before adhering to what’s ahead. Ye did remarkable work when he debuted his first album. Every track was a seed of growth in hip-hop, college lifestyles, and fashion. He was the beginning. Now, through many trials and tribulations, he’s gotten his act together and is working on what has been said to be his greatest album yet. The latest news surrounding the release pertains to the folks on board. The list has grown, now including M.I.A., Santigold, of course CuDi, Alicia Keys, La Roux and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. We shall see.

It wasn’t a shot, it’s just a simple-ass rhyme by a simple-ass rapper. You can’t let that shit faze you. That’s one of those raps that just shows the world that you wack. Why would you even use that as a metaphor? Everybody think they Hov. Niggas ain’t got the magic like they think they do; there’s only a couple of wizards in this game. I’m a wizard and I know it.

How heavy did the drug use get?

I started doing cocaine to get through interviews, ’cause people wanted to know a lot about my personal life and I wasn’t prepared for a 60 Minutes interview every time. Doing bumps I was able to get through the day, but then I would smoke weed to calm me down—it was the only way I could get through the day without people noticing I was doing it.
Did you ever feel like you had a problem?

Kid Cudi: I never thought it was a problem, but I was definitely high-fiving death a couple of times. It took a lot for me to talk about shit like this on the album. I don’t feel like I need to explain myself to anyone besides the fans. My fans don’t believe shit until they hear me say it. And those are true Kid Cudi fans. I want them to know the story.

On the day of New York’s Fashion Night Out Mr. West releases another G.O.O.D. track entitled “G.O.O.D. Friday” with the help of the fam Pusha T, Common, Big Sean, KiD CuDi and Uncle Charlie. At this rate Ye has been very consistent with the ingenuity in his music. The anticipation lingers for the album.

I’ve got to get my mojo baaaaaaaaack!!! Quite random, yes indeed, but I’m sure this would be the cry for help and KiD CuDi’s ‘Mojo So Dope’ track would be the serum solution. I don’t know whether the excitement surrounds Kanyeezy more or if it flows more to the direction of CuDi. I think it may be equally shared amongst the two since they’ve decided to hit us up with a track off of CuDi’s upcoming second LP, Man On The Moon. Being able to finally see Mr. West come from out of his bat cave is pretty marvelous as well. The both jump on ‘Erase Me,’ a solid rock track that I’m sure will creep into the minds of KiD CuDi’s diverse fan base. Enjoy.
